I totally agree. We have noticed on our site that people have started linking to us as we have added tools and enhanced our content.
One question Alex. Can you build contextual links to quickly ie articles to diectories or links from industry relevelnt blogs and forums?

Great article Alex. seo quake is a good firefox plugin to look at backlinks. I have found it a little slow to load pages though.

I note you didn’t talk about linking between your own multiple sites - although this isn’t the best form of link building, it still has benefits as long as the sites are relevant to each other.

Some say that hosting becomes important here though i.e. if all your sites have the same IP address and link to each other, then Google etc may discount the links somewhat.

I too have been following Barack’s online strategy and have also been very impressed. They really have focused on flawless execution and I’m sure that their use of social media allowed the party to speak to an audience that they may not have been able to reach effectively otherwise.
