We launched the waterdrop® eCommerce store in February 2023 and have taken this beautiful brand from a standing start to more than $1,000,000 in monthly revenues and it’s continuing to grow FAST.
What did we do exactly?
It starts with an amazing product, something that people want / need. Then Webprofits applied its proprietary eCommerce playbook; the same formula we use for every eCom brand we work with.
And here's the thing...
What we’ve found after scaling countless eCommerce brands is that if you can’t scale customer acquisition profitably on Meta, it will be very hard to scale through digital.
Why?
Because with Meta you can drive exposure before almost anyone in Australia, and with the right creative get them interested, drive engagement and ultimately sales.
So with waterdrop®, we setup the foundational elements that every eCom store needs (abandoned cart sequence, upsells, reviews etc) and then focussed the majority of the advertising budget on scaling through Meta.
Yes, we have a solid presence on Google and TikTok but the main ‘scaling engine’ is Meta.
And the best part?
We scaled up advertising spend PROFITABLY - which means we’re generating a small profit from every new sale (and customer) we get. To say nothing of client lifetime value optimisation. At its simplest, start with a small budget, get the parts working together and working well, find a profit engine, and then scale it fast.
Experience matters.
You need to know WHAT you need to get right above all else and then focus everything on making that work.

As you can imagine Webprofits has seen a lot of eCommerce marketing campaigns and what we’ve found is that eCommerce brands that have the following elements scale fastest:
Brands that have an AOV of $70 - $150 scale easier because their products are impulsive purchases. A good Customer Acquisition Cost would then be $20-25 which means a ROAS (return on ad spend) of 3 or higher will generally mean you can acquire a customer profitably off the first sale. Lifetime value is separate.
Brands that sell products that people use over and over again (think skin care, supplements etc) often get repeat purchases of 10% to 50% per month. And when you combine profitable acquisition with a consumable product that people LOVE, you get paid to acquire a customer and then make a lot of money on the back end.
eCommerce stores that stock multiple brands are very hard to scale on Meta. What works best are brands that promote their own products because they can tell a brand story and they will usually have a ‘hero’ product that drives all of the first-time customer acquisition.
When you’re advertising on Facebook and Instagram, the story behind the brand makes a difference. How are you different? What is special about what you sell? Why did you start your brand? This it the type of information that people respond to, and with the right creative, they’ll actually LOVE learning more about your brand. Particularly if you’re trying to make a positive difference in the world, big or small.
Yes, there is a very specific way to manage the campaigns in Meta so they scale profitably. But the #1 most important factor is the suite of creative assets needed to convert people who have never heard of your brand into an impulse purchase.
